If you’re a writer, one of the best things you can do for yourself is buy a copy of The Frugal Editor, 3rd Edition by Carolyn-Howard Johnson, then set aside 30 minutes or so each day to read this book slowly, chapter by chapter, section by section.
You’ll probably want to have a highlighter in hand (or use that feature on your Kindle if you buy the e-book) because there are so many points you’ll want to remember when you start editing one of your manuscripts or you begin a new writing project.
And I have no doubt, you will learn a lot about writing, editing, publishing, and even book marketing from this edition, no matter how experienced and well-published you may be.
Now, I know what you’re thinking.
A book about self-editing has to be about as interesting as watching paint dry!
Well, wrong!
The Frugal Editor, 3rd Edition is a compelling read if you’re a writer (or just someone interested in the written word).
Reading it is like taking a self-study writing course, peppered with amusing anecdotes and comments that make the content easy to understand and engaging.
This edition has an additional 50% of content from the previous two editions to include up-to-date information about the every-changing world of publishing that writers need to know about.
It covers everything from writing your query letter to your final manuscript and then marketing your published book.
The appendices alone are well worth the price of the book.
The Frugal Editor has won awards and accolades from Next Generation Indie Awards, USA Book News Awards, Reader Views Literary Awards, the coveted Irwin Award, and Dan Poynter’s Global Ebook Awards.
It’s a must-have for any writer’s reference library.
