Joan Leotta has been playing with words since childhood. She is a poet,
essayist, journalist, playwright, and author of several books both fiction
and non-fiction for children and adults. Her latest three are Secrets of the
Heart a romance set in Rome and civil war Wilmington NC, Simply a Smile, a
collection of short stories and WHOOSH!, a picture book especially for dads
and daughters, She is also a performer and gives one-woman shows on historic
figures and spoken word folklore shows and teaches writing and storytelling.
