Sure! Here are 7 fresh and unique creative writing prompts for the week.

Use one or more of these prompts this week to get in some writing practice.

Monday’s Prompt: The Last Message

Your character finds an old phone with a half-written text message drafted on it.

The message is directed at someone they used to love, but the sender never pressed “send.”

Write the story of what happened next.

Tuesday’s Prompt: Lost and Found

A struggling artist picks up a discarded book from a bench at the park.

Inside the front cover, there’s a dedication written by a famous author who passed away years ago.

As the artist reads on, they realize this is the author’s lost final manuscript—a story that eerily mirrors the artist’s own life.

Wednesday’s Prompt: The Missed Connection

Two people meet briefly on a train.

They connect instantly but don’t exchange names or contact details.

Years later, they see a news article about a missing person who looks strikingly similar to the other person on the train.

Write their story and the choice they have to make.

Thursday’s Prompt: The Unread Letter

Your character inherits a box of old family letters.

They find one envelope that has never been opened, with their name written on it—even though it was dated 20 years before they were born.

Friday’s Prompt: The Unfinished Meal

A famous restaurant is known for serving one dish only, but no one has ever finished it.

People say it’s the best meal they’ve ever had, yet everyone always leaves a bite behind.

Your character is determined to finish it.

Why?

Saturday’s Prompt: The Neighborhood Watch

A quiet suburban neighborhood starts noticing that every Friday night at exactly 8 p.m., all the lights in a certain house turn off for just 60 seconds, no matter who lives there.

Your character decides to investigate.

Sunday’s Prompt: The Sound of Silence

A new soundproof apartment complex promises absolute peace and quiet.

But once the tenants move in, they all start hearing something they can’t quite describe.

It’s not loud, but it’s impossible to ignore.

What is it, and why is it there?
