2. Dana had missed the ferry. Now what was she going to do? It was a cold, yet clear day.
3. While her friends back home were snowed in, Marina took a walk through the quaint little village, glad to be staying in a warm climate for the Christmas holidays.
4. “I knew this wasn’t going to be a typical Christmas for us since we’re thousands of miles from home,” she said. “But I never expected anything like this.”
5. She loved being alone in the woods on a cold, snowy day.
6. They’d been walking for miles when they came to a big, old barn.
“We can rest in there,” he said, “although, it won’t give us much relief from the cold.”
7. Hazel and Louis walked every morning, no matter how cold it was.
8. He opened his eyes and sat up. She sat beside him, a finger pressed to her lips, so he wouldn’t yell out anything. He looked out onto the field and couldn’t believe what he saw. “Tell me again, what did you say you wished for this Christmas?” he whispered.
9. He stomped the snow from his boots and took off his hat, jacket, and gloves. The Christmas tree was beautifully decorated. Marshmallows floated on a mug of hot cocoa that she had waiting for him.
10. The beach was deserted. Too cold for everyone, she thought. Well, they’re all sissies. And she took off across the sand and plunged into the cold water.
