If one of your goals for the year is to finally write a book, here’s a tip that will save you lots of time, effort, and eventually lots of money.

Ready?

Here’s the tip: Hire a writing coach BEFORE you start writing your book.

Many people start writing a book, then get stuck midway through and decide to hire a coach.

But it’s much better if a coach is called in before the writer ever starts writing.

Why, you ask?

Well, because a good writing coach will help the writer do a number of things the writer probably won’t be able to do on his own, including:

1. Write a more marketable book.

A more marketable book is a manuscript/book that is easier to sell.

A coach who has knowledge of many different genres will make sure the writer creates a manuscript that will fit the guidelines for one or more genre, and therefore be easier to sell.

Writers who start writing without a coach often have no idea of how to create a marketable manuscript.

If they come to the coach before they start writing, the coach can usually save them hours and hours of rewriting, or, worse yet, the agony of having their manuscript flatly rejected by every single publisher they submit it to.

2. Follow a system to write the book so there is no danger of getting stuck in the middle of the manuscript.

Most writing coaches are published authors who have their own tricks and techniques for starting, writing, and finishing manuscripts, and they can share these tips and techniques (that work) with the writers they coach.

3. Set up a workable writing schedule and a timeline for completing the book, so the book gets started and finished.

A coach provides the writer with someone to be held accountable to.

Without this, it’s just too easy to put the manuscript away if, and when, the writing gets the least bit difficult.

So don’t wait until you’ve started writing, or you’ve even finished writing, your manuscript to hire a coach.

A good writing coach isn’t simply someone who can sell any manuscript.

A good writing coach is someone who can help you create a more marketable manuscript from the get-go.

Find your coach, then start writing.

Try it!
